    hyperactivity

my nephew is very hyperactive, he is nearly 2 and he will not stop.  he runs all day, his behaviour is erratic, it seems his nervous system is running in overload and my brother is starting to become concerned and very tired as his new baby has just been born.  has anyone worked miracles with this type of child.?????

    Re: hyperactivity

    Hi,

I think would be very usefull to work first with her mother (might be too tired presently, but maybe it could be a good start) Why? The 2 years old boy can not be interwied clearly. Trough his mother if she images herself as his son (they are so connected in that age that should work) ask her what could cause his anxiety etc. And tap on it afterwards.

Sort of question: If you were your son what could cause your problem?

What makes you nervous? Who is making you nervous?

What should happen to make you relax?

It makes his mother to think as his son. If it does not work it may enable her to put herself into his son's shoe which could be also helpfull.

Just for starting, maybe some others will have good ideas...

    Good taping,

    Peter

    Re: hyperactivity

     Hi Nicole,

working for 7 years with hyperactive kids, I don't believe in miracles, but I got good results with EFT regarding

attentional problems and hyperactivity. Two of my young clients quit on ritalin recently, on which they

were dependend for years. Other positive outcomes are improvements in academic performance and better test scores.

I will post more of my findings if I get more feedback from my clients.Yet persistence is key in working with those kids.

Attentional problems can be very komplex and multi-layered as children and thier environments develop beliefs about them and the situation.

Your nephew might benefit from tapping, yet I would advise to discuss this with a seasoned professional in

the field who has experience with childen and EFT. If I was involved in the case, I would work with the parents first .

    Best Wishes

    Dirk

    Hello Nicole,

I just love that extended familiy members are so invested in the children.  Once again, I must put on my Nurse's cap to respond.  If your nephew's behavior is really of great concern to you and his parents, a discussion with the pediatrician is a good first step.  Having said that, the Pediatrician only gets a snap shot of the behavior.  My recommendation would be to get a referral to have him evaluated by a Developmental Specialist (MD) or a Child study team.. I am not saying to look or a label or a diagnosis but rather some suggestions for behavior modification for the boy and perhaps the parents as well.  Children don't need to be 'fixed' and do not stand alone.  They are part of a family where every member is interdependent on the other.  Remember it takes a village to raise a child.  Your nephew is a lucky boy, indeed, to be in your village.

In the mean time, tapping for calm and quiet times would be a helpful -- for even a minute or two would be a good start.

    Happy Tapping!
